More than 550 roads maintenance operatives are employed so that the federal and state roads in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern are in good condition and safe to use. Every section of road undergoes a safety inspection on a weekly basis. If an inspector finds damage or defects, they are rectified without delay.
In total, the Roads and Transport Authority Mecklenburg-Vorpommern carries all year round responsibility for a road network of 6,550 kilometres. In addition to its direct responsibility for 1,980 kilometres of federal and 3,330 kilometres of state roads, the SBV also manages 1,250 kilometres of district roads by agreement with rural district authorities.
